Visa-Free Entry to Armenia

Many travelers can enter Armenia without a visa, staying for up to 180 days per year. This privilege is extended to citizens of most European countries, selected Asian nations, and several countries in the Americas and Oceania.

Important: Overstaying can result in a fine ranging from €50 to €150. Those planning long-term stays can apply for residency permits.

Visa on Arrival

Travelers from certain countries can obtain a visa upon arrival at Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan or land border checkpoints. Alternatively, they can apply for an e-visa in advance (see below).

Eligible for visa on arrival:

Countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Chile, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Indonesia, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Mexico, North Korea, North Macedonia, Oman, Peru, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey.

Holders of valid visas or residence permits from: any EU/Schengen country, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE), Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Russia, South Korea, UK, USA.

Ethnic Armenians and their immediate family (parents, children, spouses, siblings) regardless of nationality.

Note: Visa on arrival is not available for citizens of countries that require an embassy-issued sticker visa.

Electronic Visa (e-Visa)

Travelers from over 70 countries can apply for an Armenian e-visa online via the official e-visa portal. The application is typically processed within 3–5 business days.

Countries eligible for e-visa include:

Asia & Middle East: Algeria, Bahrain, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, Egypt, India, Iraq, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Morocco, Myanmar, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Timor-Leste, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Vietnam.

Americas: Belize, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela.

Oceania: Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu.

Caribbean & others: Antigua and Barbuda (also eligible for visa on arrival).

Applicants who are also eligible for visa on arrival may still choose to apply online for convenience.

Validity: E-visas are valid for up to 120 days, with a possible 60-day extension.

Sticker Visa (Embassy-Issued)

Nationals of certain countries must apply for a visa in advance at an Armenian embassy or consulate. These travelers are not eligible for e-visas or visas on arrival.

Countries requiring a sticker visa include:

Asia & Middle East: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine, Sri Lanka, Syria, Yemen.

Africa: Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, CAR, Chad, Comoros, Congo (both), Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Additional Requirements:

These applications often require a Letter of Invitation (LOI) from a host in Armenia.

Private invitations: Must be submitted to the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia.

Corporate or organizational invitations: Must be submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Security checks for invitation letters may take 2–3 weeks or longer, and hosts may be contacted for verification. Ethnic Armenians and their close relatives are exempt from the LOI requirement.
