The city of Sisian, Armenia, is preparing to host the third annual Navasard Festival, a vibrant celebration of Armenian and Iranian culture and cuisine.
Scheduled for 10 August 2025, the event aims to bring the two neighboring nations closer by showcasing their shared traditions, flavors, and hospitality.
A Growing Cultural Bridge Between Armenia and Iran
According to Mehák Apresyan, President of the Armenian Tourism Federation, interest in this year’s festival is at an all-time high:
“We expect guests from Iran and other countries. This will be a colorful and diverse festival — a unique regional tourism product that needs to be developed. Our goal is to present ourselves jointly on the international tourism market with a competitive offering and to strengthen our millennia-old friendship.”
The festival grounds will be divided into four main zones:
Armenian and Iranian cuisine — live cooking and tastings
Handicrafts and folk art presentations
Music and performing arts area
Culinary competition zone
The highlight of the festival is a culinary contest featuring 27 chefs from Armenia and 27 from Iran, competing in categories such as Best Presentation, Best Taste, and Most Creative Idea. The dishes will be judged by renowned chefs from both countries.
Strong Interest from Iran
Mohammad Asadi Movahedi, Cultural Attaché of the Iranian Embassy in Armenia, emphasized the event’s growing popularity:
“There has been tremendous interest in the Navasard Festival in Iran. As soon as the news spread, we received a huge number of participation requests and had to hold a selection process. This important cultural event will undoubtedly contribute to the development of Armenian–Iranian relations and will attract many visitors.”
