According to a report from the Cyprus Statistical Service, 3,715 passenger sedans were registered in May 2025, reflecting an 11.7% increase compared to May 2024, which saw 3,325 sedan registrations.
However, the cumulative data for January to May showed a decline: total sedan registrations fell by 5.5%, reaching 16,224 vehicles compared to 17,176 during the same period last year. New cars accounted for 42.4% (6,874 units), while used cars made up 57.6% (9,350 units).
The share of gasoline-powered cars rose to 43.7%, whereas diesel vehicles fell to just 8.8%. Meanwhile, interest in eco-friendly vehicles grew notably: electric car registrations rose by 4.7%, and hybrid vehicles jumped by an impressive 42.9%. These figures highlight Cyprus’s steady shift toward green mobility, supported by government incentives and a rising consumer focus on sustainability.
