On Tuesday, July 8 at 9:00 AM, Cyprus will launch a new round of applications for government subsidies supporting the purchase of electric and hybrid vehicles. This was officially announced by the Ministry of Transport.
Applications can only be submitted online through the Department of Road Transport (TOM) website, which will accept submissions until midnight on September 2 — unless all available subsidies are distributed earlier.
The program aims to encourage citizens to switch to sustainable and environmentally friendly personal transport. The current round of funding includes five main categories designed for different citizens and vehicle types.
Key highlights of the subsidy scheme include:
150 grants of €9,000 each for the purchase of new zero-emission electric vehicles with a maximum price of up to €80,000
40 grants of €7,500 for replacing old cars with new hybrid vehicles, within the same price limit
Special support for socially vulnerable groups: ten grants of €10,000 for people with disabilities, and another ten grants of €10,000 for large families, to purchase new electric vehicles priced up to €80,000
50 grants of €9,000 for the purchase of used electric vehicles for personal use, with a maximum price of €35,000
According to TOM’s clarifications, subsidies will be granted for vehicles ordered before the application date, but already registered cars will not be eligible.

Cyprus Green Transport Progress
Since the first government incentive scheme launched in December 2021, the shift to green transport in Cyprus has shown significant progress.
In 2020, only 752 electric vehicles were registered on Cypriot roads. By May 2025, this figure had jumped to 6,208 — an eightfold increase in less than five years.
Hybrid vehicles have also grown steadily: from 10,010 registered in 2020 to 52,265 by May 2025, representing a fivefold rise. Notably, in recent months, new hybrid registrations have even surpassed gasoline vehicle registrations, reflecting citizens’ growing interest in green technologies.
With the increasing popularity of electric and hybrid vehicles, the government hopes that the renewed subsidy program will further motivate citizens to adopt more sustainable transport solutions, contributing to reduced emissions and improved environmental protection.
