Tourism in Cyprus saw steady growth in 2024. According to the latest data from the Statistical Service of Cyprus, the number of tourists visiting the island between January and August 2024 increased by 4% compared to the same period in 2023.
In total, 2,758,627 visitors arrived in Cyprus during the first eight months of 2024, up from 2,648,795 in the same period last year. The month of August alone welcomed 554,923 tourists, showing an impressive 8.5% increase compared to 511,387 in August 2023.

The leading countries of origin for tourists arriving in Cyprus were:
United Kingdom – 192,424 visitors
Israel – 74,032 visitors
Poland – 42,650 visitors
Germany – 23,068 visitors
Greece – 14,307 visitors
Visitors primarily came to Cyprus for leisure, visiting friends and relatives, or business trips. Popular destinations on the island included Limassol, Paphos, Ayia Napa, and Larnaca, all known for their stunning beaches, nightlife, and cultural attractions.
Cypriots Traveling Abroad
While tourist arrivals in Cyprus rose, the number of Cypriots traveling abroad in August 2024 slightly decreased by 3.6%, with 192,756 residents leaving the island compared to 199,920 in August 2023.
However, over the January to August period, outbound travel by Cypriots saw a significant 17.1% increase, reaching 1,173,459 trips versus 1,001,949 in the same timeframe last year.
