Passenger traffic through Cyprus airports continues to soar, setting new records in 2025.

According to the latest data released by Hermes Airports, a total of 10.7 million passengers passed through Larnaca and Paphos airports during the first nine months of the year.

Of these, 7.7 million travelers used Larnaca Airport and 3 million used Paphos Airport. These figures mark a historic high, confirming the strong and steady recovery of tourism and air travel on the island.

In September 2025, Cyprus airports exceeded 1 million passengers for the sixth consecutive month, marking one of the longest sustained growth periods in recent years.

At Larnaca Airport, passenger traffic reached 1.1 million, compared to 1 million in the same month last year. Paphos Airport also recorded growth, handling 434,900 passengers versus 401,600 in 2024. For comparison, in September 2019, passenger numbers stood at 982,300 in Larnaca and 341,900 in Paphos.

In 2024, Cyprus had already achieved a record-breaking 12.3 million passengers in total, and all signs suggest that 2025 will surpass that milestone.

According to data from the Famagusta Hoteliers Association (PASYXE), October 2025 is proving to be even more successful than the same month last year. Association president Panayiotis Constantinou stated that more hotels than before will remain open this year until mid-November, with some even continuing operations through the end of the month.

He explained that the extension of travel programs to Cyprus by UK tour operators, together with the sharp increase in online bookings and last-minute reservations, has significantly boosted tourist arrivals. This trend highlights Cyprus’s growing appeal not only as a summer destination but also as an ideal location for autumn vacations. According to Eurostat, Cyprus recorded the highest increase in commercial flights in the European Union in September 2025, compared with the same month in 2019.

Experts attribute this achievement to the diversification of the tourism market, continued airport infrastructure improvements, and the expansion of flight routes connecting the island to new European and Middle Eastern destinations.

By the end of 2025, total passenger traffic across Cyprus is expected to exceed 13 million, setting a new all-time record. Tourism remains one of the key pillars of the Cypriot economy, contributing more than 20% of the country’s GDP.

The Cyprus government has already announced plans for further infrastructure upgrades at both airports, including terminal expansions, runway extensions, and eco-friendly mobility solutions. These initiatives aim to strengthen Cyprus’s position as a leading aviation and tourism hub in the Eastern Mediterranean.
