Cyprus airports have officially set a new passenger traffic record.
Between January and August 2024, a total of over 8 million travelers passed through the island’s two international hubs — Larnaca Airport and Paphos Airport. This represents a 4.67% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

In August 2024 alone, the two airports handled 1,602,810 passengers, marking a 5.71% increase from the previous year. However, the growth was uneven between the two airports:

Larnaca International Airport saw a strong increase of +8.53% in passenger numbers.

Paphos International Airport, on the other hand, recorded a slight decline of -1.1%.

The average flight occupancy rate reached an impressive 95%, highlighting the efficiency of air operations on the island.

Destinations and Airlines

From January to August 2024, a total of 54 airlines operated at Cyprus airports, connecting the island to 113 destinations across 38 countries.
Top travel destinations for Cypriot travelers included:

United Kingdom

Greece

Poland

Israel

Germany

Air traffic to these countries increased by 14% compared to 2023, with a total of 11,432 flights operated in these routes during the first eight months of the year.

A New Annual Record in Sight?

Despite a challenging start to 2024, Cyprus is expected to break its all-time annual passenger record by the end of the year.
If current trends continue, December 2024 could surpass the 2023 milestone of 11.6 million passengers served.
