Work has begun on installing new paid parking zones in Yerevan, Armenia, according to Vazgen Arutyunyan, Acting Head of the Transport Department of Yerevan Municipality.

The initiative aims to expand regulated parking areas and improve traffic management in the capital.

Streets Affected by New Paid Parking Zones

Arutyunyan announced that paid parking spaces will soon appear in several central locations:

Zakyan Street

Pushkin Street

The area between Abovyan Street and Nalbandyan Street

The planned works are expected to be completed within the current month.

Afterward, similar installations will continue near Abgar Park, between Arami Street and Karen Demirchyan Street (formerly part of Byuzand Street), followed by Tpaghrichneri Street by the end of the year.

How Paid Parking Works in Yerevan

Parking in Yerevan’s city center is highly regulated. Most parking spaces are marked with red lines and require payment. However, visitors may occasionally encounter illegal practices, such as individuals placing objects (like boxes) to block spots and charging 200–500 AMD to remove them. This practice is unlawful, and drivers are encouraged to report such incidents to the police.

Yerevan operates a paid parking and fine system:

Paid zones are clearly marked with red lines

Payments can be made via official parking meters or mobile applications

Non-payment results in fines enforced by the municipality
