Larnaca is currently experiencing a worrying surge in car thefts and break-ins, with incidents occurring at an increasingly alarming rate. According to Cyprus Minister of Justice and Public Order, Marios Hartsiotis, a total of 196 complaints were submitted by residents between January and August 2024.
Of these, 161 cases of vehicle break-ins and thefts were reported in central Larnaca, while the remaining incidents occurred in suburban areas. The most frequently targeted locations include Finikoudes Promenade, the popular Mackenzie Beach area, and the Metropolis Mall parking lot.
Criminals often steal personal belongings from vehicles such as bags, wallets, mobile phones, electronics, and cash.
